These Terms of Service govern your use of Landed, an app that helps people who have recently relocated meet others in person. By creating an account, you agree to these terms.
By creating a Landed account, you confirm that: you are at least 18 years old; the information you provide during signup and verification is accurate and belongs to you; and you are creating this account for yourself, not on behalf of someone else or a business.
Landed is intended for adults relocating to a new city, and for local residents who wish to welcome them. It is not intended for minors under any circumstances.
Before you can message or meet other members, you must complete Landed's verification process: Identity: a government-issued ID and a selfie, compared to confirm they match. Email address: confirmed via a verification link. Phone number: confirmed via a one-time SMS code. Proof of relocation (newcomers only): a document showing you have recently moved to your current city.
Your ID document is reviewed by our team and then deleted from our systems once a decision is made. We retain only the outcome (verified or rejected), not the document itself. Submitting false or manipulated documents is a violation of these Terms and will result in account suspension.
Landed exists to help people build platonic, local connections. It is not a dating app and must not be used to solicit romantic or sexual contact, sell products or services, recruit for other platforms, or campaign for political or religious causes.
You agree not to: create more than one account, or an account that isn't genuinely you; harass, threaten, or send unwanted sexual or romantic messages to another member; impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, age, or reason for using Landed; use the app to gather personal information about other members for purposes outside Landed; or attempt to bypass verification, trust score, or safety mechanisms.
Violating these rules may result in a warning, suspension, or permanent removal from Landed, at our discretion.
Landed encourages first meetups at curated public venues (cafés, coworking spaces, and community centers) shown in the app. You may also propose a different public location; anything outside our curated list is clearly marked as not verified by Landed, and you take on the judgment of whether it is appropriate.
Landed provides tools to help you meet safely, including sharing your meetup plans with a trusted contact of your choosing. These tools are aids, not guarantees. You are solely responsible for your own safety and decisions when meeting another member, including where, when, and whether to meet at all. Landed does not conduct criminal background checks and cannot guarantee the identity, intentions, or conduct of any member beyond the verification steps described in Section 2.
If a meetup does not go as planned, including a no-show or behavior that made you feel unsafe, you can report it directly from the app; see Section 5.
Each account has a trust score reflecting verification completeness and meetup history. Your own trust score and verification status are visible to you at all times; other members see only a general verified badge and completed-meetup count, never your exact score.
Your trust score is calculated automatically from your verification completeness (identity, email, phone, and relocation proof for newcomers), your history of completed meetups, no-shows, and any upheld reports against you. If your score falls below a set threshold, your ability to send or accept meetup invitations is automatically restricted; more serious or repeated issues may lead to a manual suspension by our team. You may always contact us to request a human review of an automated restriction or a suspension; see below.
Any member can report another member's profile or behavior, including a no-show for a scheduled meetup. Reports are reviewed by our team, generally within 24 hours. An upheld report reduces the reported member's trust score and, depending on severity or repetition, may restrict their ability to send invitations or result in account suspension, at our discretion. A trust score reduction from an isolated incident is not permanent and may recover over time if no further issues occur.
If you believe a report, restriction, or suspension was applied in error, you can contact us at JustLandedApp@gmail.com to request a review. We will reassess the decision within a reasonable time and let you know the outcome.
We reserve the right to investigate, restrict, or remove any account we reasonably believe poses a risk to other members, with or without a report having been filed.
You retain ownership of the profile text, photos, and messages you submit to Landed ("your content"). By posting content, you grant Landed a limited, non-exclusive license to store, display, and process it solely to operate the app, for example showing your profile to other members or delivering your messages.
You are responsible for what you post. Content must not infringe another person's rights, contain false claims about your identity or circumstances, or violate Section 3. We may remove content that violates these Terms.
All rights, title, and interest in the Landed platform, including its software, design, and branding, remain the exclusive property of Landed and its operator. Nothing in these Terms transfers any such rights to you, except the limited right to use the app as intended. This section does not apply to your own content, which is covered by Section 6.
We may suspend or permanently remove your account if you violate these Terms, receive an upheld report for serious misconduct, or if we reasonably believe your continued access poses a risk to other members. A suspended account cannot send invitations or messages and is hidden from other members while the suspension is in effect.
You may delete your account at any time from your Profile settings. Deleting your account permanently erases your profile, matches, chats, and messages, and removes you from Discover. This action cannot be undone.
Landed is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that verification, trust scores, or moderation will identify or prevent all misconduct, and we cannot guarantee that any member is who they claim to be.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Landed and its operator are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from your interactions with other members, including in-person meetups arranged through the app. You use Landed, and meet other members, at your own risk.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Landed is not liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations where that failure or delay results from causes beyond our reasonable control, including outages of third-party services we rely on (such as hosting or SMS providers), internet or telecommunications failures, or other unforeseeable events.
We may update these Terms as Landed evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Landed after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Landed will be brought before the competent court in the Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
Landed is currently operated by an individual, Martijn van Rooij, operating as a sole proprietor (eenmanszaak) in the Netherlands; a registered business (KVK) number and business address will be added here once registration is complete.
Questions about these Terms can be sent to JustLandedApp@gmail.com.
